What does a snuffle mat do?

There is no fixed number of snuffling minutes equivalent to a walk. Keep physical activity appropriate for your dog, and judge the game by how willingly they engage.

Is it a good fit for your dog?

Watch the first attempt. Sniffing, locating food, and moving between hiding spots tell you the dog is exploring the activity. Start the first game

  1. Set the Mat flat in a clear area and check that it is intact.
  2. Place a measured portion of your dog’s usual dry food visibly among the loops.
  3. Stay with your dog while they search. Keep multiple dogs in separate feeding spaces.
  4. For a later game, tuck a few pieces deeper if your dog is comfortable with easy finds.
  5. Pick up the Mat when finished and shake out leftover food.
